As part of the international academic partnership between the Department of Architecture at Prince Sultan University and the distinguished École Spéciale d’Architecture (ESA) in Paris, and under the supervision of the French Agency for AlUla Development (AFALULA), the first session of the joint academic studio was launched to develop the Al-Sukhayrat district in AlUla, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
During the session, architecture students from Prince Sultan University, under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr. Rasha Mousa, presented analytical studies of the district, covering its morphological, social, and environmental aspects. The presentations proposed design alternatives aimed at enhancing quality of life and promoting walkability and sustainable urban design. Participants exchanged ideas on integrating local identity with modern technologies to achieve a balanced urban, cultural, and environmental character.
The session brought together a group of Saudi and French academics and experts who praised the quality of the analytical and design proposals, emphasizing the importance of such collaborations in preparing qualified professionals to contribute effectively to national development projects.
This joint initiative reflects Prince Sultan University’s commitment to fostering international academic partnerships and supporting the development of historic cities through innovative and sustainable approaches that align with the Kingdom’s future aspirations.
