PSU's progress in Space Research and Radio Astronomy

Representing the Department of Communications and Networks Engineering at Prince Sultan University, Dr. Walid Dyab plays a pivotal role in a groundbreaking radio telescope project in partnership with the Saudi Amateur Radio Society (SARS). This initiative, featuring an advanced 5-meter telescope, mounted on top of building 105, symbolizes a leap in space research and educational innovation at PSU. Under Dr. Dyab's supervision and with the efforts of his colleagues and students, the project achieved a remarkable milestone with the development of professional-like waterfall plots of the Milky Way galaxy, setting new standards in educational radio astronomy. His contributions were notably recognized at the grand opening of the Hail Telescope, where he was honored with an award for his significant achievements. The ceremony was sponsored and attended by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Governor of Hail region. This ceremony, which marked the installation of a 20-meter reflector telescope at the city of Hail, further highlights the importance of the project in regional space exploration, and the role which KSA will play in this field. Dr. Dyab's involvement not only elevates PSU's status in the field of radio astronomy but also actively invites the university community to participate in this exciting astronomical journey.
