Strength of Materials Laboratory
Introduction
Strength of Materials Lab is taught under the Strength of Materials (EM 203) course. It plays an important role in achieving the academic goals of the course. It helps the students to visualize the concepts taught in the lectures by performing different experiments on the materials.
Strength of Materials Laboratory is equipped with the latest machines necessary for testing of engineering materials. Most of the equipment is run by software using a PC, and has capability of storing data in a digital format. Students are given hands on experience on using the machines. The tests are performed in accordance with international standards.
Laboratory Facilities:
- Universal Testing Machines (UTM) – 2000 kN
- Extensometer for UTM
- Rockwell Hardness Tester
- Brinnel Hardness Tester
- Torsion Machine
- Fatigue Testing Machine
- Creep Testing Machine
- Impact Tester – 300 Joule
