Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identify emerging business opportunities and technologies, by undertaking market analysis and business development studies to identify potential markets, competitors, and customer needs.
- Based on the market analysis, link university innovations with identified potential applications and industries, assessing the commercial viability of intellectual property (IP) emerging from PSU research labs.
- Develop partnerships with public and private organizations to establish enterprise funding programs that support Saudi industry and the startup sector. Establish sustainable partnerships with Saudi organizations including, but not limited to, Saudi Venture Capital Company (SVC), Monsha'at (Saudi Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority), Saudi Industrial Development Fund (SIDF), Public Investment Fund (PIF), Wa'ed (Saudi Aramco Entrepreneurship Center), TAQNIA (Saudi Technology Development and Investment Company), and Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA).
- Identify venture capitalists (VCs), angel investors, and innovation funds, and work with faculty on the investment readiness of PSU R&D outcomes. Prepare and organize investment pitch decks for VCs by refining business plans, financial models, and pitching strategies.
- Assist researchers in developing viable business models for their innovations. Provide support for innovation projects and pilot programs.
- Develop PSU research income strategies through consultancy, intellectual property commercialization, contract research, and other relevant knowledge exchange activities.
- Evaluate research lab activities across PSU, identifying best practices and recommending changes where appropriate to ensure all R&D activities align with PSU enterprise goals within the university.
- Work with HR and research labs to conduct needs assessments and design suitable training and development programs to increase entrepreneurial skills in faculty members, enabling them to undertake actionable knowledge exchange (KE) activities. Monitor and track the success of these programs in conjunction with the academic department.
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post as required.
