We are excited to announce an interesting opportunity to join our dynamic and innovative team at the Smart Systems Engineering Lab at PSU. We are actively seeking a highly motivated and exceptionally talented individual to occupy the position of Postdoctoral Researcher with a specialization in optical communication. The ideal candidate should possess a PhD in Electrical Engineering and showcase a proven track record of working in laboratory settings.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct innovative research in the field of optical communication.
• Collaborate with a team of multidisciplinary researchers.
• Publish research findings in reputable journals and conferences.
• Mentor and supervise junior researchers and graduate students.
• Contribute to grant proposal writing and project management.

Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, majoring in optical communication.
• Strong background in optical communication in one of the following directions: fiber communication, sensing, FSO, VLC, and underwater communication.
• Proven technical and hands-on experience in optical lab demonstrations (e.g. laser sources, high-speed modulators, link alignment, channel measurements).
• Proficiency in programming languages and relevant software tools.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Prior experience with grant writing, project execution and management.
• A strong track record of research and publication in top-ranked and peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and a passion for tackling complex technical challenges.
