Message from the Chair

It is my pleasure and honor to welcome you to the Department of Software Engineering, one of the distinguished programs offered by the College of Computer and Information Sciences at Prince Sultan University. The department, together with the college’s other programs, combines knowledge and creativity to strengthen the pillars of technological advancement and innovation across the University and the Kingdom.

We prepare our students for impactful careers that contribute to a sustainable, technology-driven future. Through hands-on projects, research opportunities, and collaboration with industry partners, our students gain not only academic knowledge but also the confidence to apply it in real-world contexts. The department draws its inspiration from Prince Sultan University’s pursuit of leadership in education, quality, and innovation, and from the college’s commitment to advancing the computing field. Building on this foundation, the department aspires to be among the leading Software Engineering programs in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, by preparing software engineers who possess deep knowledge, creative skills, and professional integrity — capable of serving society and driving the Kingdom’s digital transformation.

The Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering program is accredited by ABET (the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology), reflecting our commitment to the highest standards of academic quality. The program offers three specialized tracks — Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and Digital Transformation — designed to equip students with the knowledge and capabilities that align with the fast- evolving job market.

Amid the rapid global development in education and technology, the department takes pride in being a pioneer in adopting Artificial Intelligence in education, enriching the learning experience, fostering innovation, and opening new horizons for students in research, creativity, and intelligent software development.

At the Department of Software Engineering, we believe that the future of technology is built not only on tools and algorithms, but on creative minds that think, innovate, and make an impact. Guided by this belief, we work in close collaboration with the departments of the College of Computer and Information Sciences to provide an integrated academic experience that prepares software engineers to compete globally and contribute effectively to building a prosperous and sustainable digital economy.
