• bridge the gap between the knowledge students learn in their majors and the skills needed in the job market
• enhance the participants' generic or soft skills needed in today's job market
• train participants in contexts that are near to authentic work contexts
• develop the participants’ oral and written English language proficiency for social and occupational purposes
