Admission Requirements for the Software Engineering Program

All prospective students must apply to Prince Sultan University (PSU) through the Deanship of Admission and Registration (DAR) and satisfy the University admission requirements specified in the Rules and Regulations of Undergraduate Study and Examinations .

The admission process of new students to Prince Sultan University consists of two separate consecutive stages:

  • Admission to the Preparatory Year Program (PYP)
  • Admission to Software Engineering Programs.

I. Admission to the Preparatory Year Program (PYP)

The Preparatory Year Program (PYP) aims to prepare students for their undergraduate study, enhance their English proficiency level, and reinforce the student’s previous knowledge of the mathematical and analytical fields in the medium of English before starting their undergraduate study. The duration of the PYP is one academic year that includes courses such as English and Maths, Basic sciences, and Computing.

For PYP admission, the applicant should:

  • Pass the University Entrance Exam.
  • Be a full-time student; part-time enrollment is not permitted.
  • If an applicant is a public or private sector employee, he/she should obtain written approval to study from his workplace.
  • To pass the medical check-up, the applicants have to get a medical report filled and signed by a hospital or a medical center
  • The student should have earned his/her high school diploma within the past five years.
  • The academic aptitude of applicants is based on their secondary school average, Qiyas (or SAT I) scores, and the results of the Entrance Exam as follows:

Grade = 40% [secondary school average] + 30% [Qiyas General Aptitude Test score (national test)] + 30% [Entrance Exam]

A report that summarizes the three admission criteria above for all new applicants is submitted to the higher university management for approval.
