Prof. Mohamed Bououdina

Lab leader and Professor

holds a PhD in Physics from Grenoble Alpes University - France. He has over 25 years of teaching and research work experience and occupied several positions at leading research institutions and academia, including Institute Neel (CNRS) - France, University of Zaragoza - Spain, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science & Technology - Japan, Queen Mary University of London and the University of Nottingham - United Kingdom, and University of Bahrain - Bahrain. In addition, he was a Visiting Professor at Chinese Academy of Science - China and Petronas University - Malaysia. Throughout his career, he supervised several MSc and PhD students on different research topics. He has broad background and extensive expertise in Physics, Materials Science & Engineering, Nanotechnology and Energy, specifically in Materials fabrication, analytical / spectroscopic characterizations, and properties / performance for cutting edge technologies. He published over 450 papers in ISI indexed journals, over 20 book chapters, and 2 indexed books. He presented his research findings at international conferences with over 40 as invited speaker. Besides, he is reviewer and member of the editorial board of numerous international journals, such as International Journal of Hydrogen Energy and Journal of Nanomaterials. His research projects involved partnership with industry, like Sanyo, Toyota and Mazda in Japan, Timet-UK, DSTL and QinetiQ-Ministry of Defense in the UK, Aramco in KSA, and Garmco in Bahrain. During his career, he established a broad and rich research network with eminent scientists worldwide including France, UK, North Africa, GCC, India, China, Malaysia, Turkey, Ukraine, Poland, USA, Sweden, Italy, Spain, and Brazil.

Dr. Hazem Abufarsakh

Dr. Hazem Abufarsakh

Assistant Professor

P Dr. Hazem obtained his PhD in computational materials physics in 2010. He did his PhD research work at the Max-Planck Institute for Iron and Steel Research in Germany. After that, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Materials Department/California Nanosystems Institute at the University of California Santa Barbara, USA. He joined PSU in 2012. His research experience and interests include first-principles calculations of electronic/physical properties of bulks, surfaces, and nanomaterials; semiconductor alloys growth thermodynamics and adatom dynamics; first principles methodologies, as well as code development. He worked as the department chair from 2015 to 2017 and has been a member of the college research committee since 2017, in addition to his involvement in other committees.

Dr. Rasha Abumousa

Dr. Rasha Abumousa has been a full-time assistant professor at Prince Sultan University since 2019. She obtained her PhD in physics (material science) from King Saud University in Saudi Arabia. Her research experience and interests include fabrication and characterization of new catalysis/ photocatalysis nanomaterials for water treatment, cancer cells treatment, and hydrogen production

Dr. Ihab Shawish

Dr. Ihab Shawish

Lecturer.

Dr. Ihab Shawish has received his PhD degree in organic chemistry from King Saud University, KSA in 2022. He has been working as chemistry lecturer for more than nineteen years. He joined Prince Sultan University in 2012 and still working there as chemistry lecturer in the Math and Sciences Department “MSD. Before that, he worked at King Khalid University from 2004 for eight years. Ihab has long teaching experience in an array of general and organic chemistry courses, both theoretical and practical. He prepared the “General Chemistry Lab. Manual” which is used by the engineering students at PSU as part of the chemistry curriculum. In 2017 he was awarded the PSU excellence teaching award. In addition, Ihab is an active member in many committees including the quality assurance, curium review, and the examination committee. Moreover, he is the coordinator of general chemistry and the director of the “science club” at PSU and has been engaged in many administrative activities at the college level and the university level as well. The research interest and recent publications of Dr. Ihab are focused on the synthesis of novel organic hybrids that have potential anticancer activity. Furthermore, he is interested in studying the anti-corrosion behavior of synthetic analogues incorporating heterocyclic moieties such as striazine, pyrazole, and triazole

Ms. Amal Alanezi

Research Assistant.

Ms. Amal Alanazi is a 2019 MA graduate from Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, majoring in solid-state physics. Bachelor's degree from Princess Noura bint Abdulrahman University 2014. She has experience in the field of teaching for two years and the field of research for three years before joining Prince Sultan University on August 8, 2023. She is now a full-time assistant researcher at PSU. Her interests are nanotechnology, materials science and sensing.

Dr. Muhammad Humayun

Dr. Muhammad Humayun earned his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, Heilongjiang University China in June 2017. He received the Distinguished International Ph.D. Scholar award from the Chinese Government and outstanding graduation award from Heilongjiang University. From Aug 2017 to Feb 2023, he worked as a Postdoc Research Fellow at Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, Huazhong University of Science & Technology (HUST) China. Currently, he is working as a Researcher (Assistant Professor) at the Energy, Water, and Environment Lab, College of Humanities and Sciences, Prince Sultan University Riyadh Saudi Arabia. He is the author/co-author of more than 100 peer-reviewed SCI publications with citations over 4000 (h-index 34). His current research interests include the design of functional nanomaterials for energy and environmental applications.

Professor Abbas Khan

Professor Abbas Khan

Professor Abbas Khan received his Ph.D. degree in Physical Chemistry from Quaid-I-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan, in 2010. Then, he joined the Department of Chemistry Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan Pakistan as an Assistant Professor in 2011. In 2013, he worked as a Postdoc Research Fellow at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia. Currently, he is working as a Full Professor of Physical Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan Pakistan. In Jan 2023, he joined the Energy, Water, and Environment Lab, Prince Sultan University Riyadh as a Visiting Research Fellow. He is the author/co-author of more than 120 international peer-reviewed publications with citations over 2500 (h-index 25). His research interests include Polymer Science, Colloids & Surfactants, and Materials Chemistry.

Prof. Mohamed Bououdina

Chundong Wang

Associate Professor

Chundong Wang obtained his Ph.D. degree from City University of Hong Kong (CityU), Hong Kong SAR in 2013. Afterward, he completed postdoctoral research at City University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong SAR), The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong SAR), and KU Leuven (Belgium). He is now a principal investigator of the electrocatalysis group and an associate professor of Materials Physics at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. His research interests include electrocatalytic materials and their applications in environment and Green energy. Ms. Sumeet Malik

Research Fellow

She obtained her Bachelors's degree from University of Haripur in the year 2015. She has gotten her Master’s in Inorganic Chemistry degree from the University of Peshawar in 2018. Later on, she obtained her Mphil degree in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Peshawar in 2020. Currently, she is pursuing her Ph.D. at the University of Peshawar. Her area of work is adsorption, catalysis, and Molecularly Imprinted Polymers. She also has experience in guiding undergraduate students in their research projects. Currently, she has received a fellowship at the PSU Riyadh
