- This semester, the regular grading system “ A+, A, B+, B, C…” will be used if the earned grade will only positively affect the student’s current cumulative GPA. Otherwise, the grades “No Grade-Pass (NP)” /“No Grade-Fail (NF)” will be recorded. This will be implemented for each course individually. Moreover, any Fail(F) grade will be recorded as NF and it will not affect the GPA.
- The following example illustrates this exceptional methodology.
Example: A cumulative GPA for a student at the end of the first semester of the academic year 2019-2020 is (2.24) and the earned hours are (60 hours). The student earns the following grades for the registered courses for the current semester:
Course Credits Grades out of 100 Letter Grades following the regular grading system Letter Grades for this semester (Exceptional) PSU 311 3 77 C+ C+ PSU 322 3 73 C NP PSU 333 3 98 A+ A+ PSU 344 3 57 F NF PSU 355 3 62 D NP Semester GPA 1.90 52.3 Cumulative GPA 2.17 2.33 - Undergraduate students who have no cumulative GPA: For each course, the letter grade “NF” will be recorded if the student earned below 60 marks, otherwise the letter grade “NP” will be recorded if the student earned above 60 but below 70 marks. The regular grading system (A+, A, B+, B …) will be applied for any course with the earned grade of 70 and above.
- Master-Level students who have no cumulative GPA: For each course, the letter grade “NF” will be recorded if the student earned below 60 marks; otherwise, the letter grade “NP” will be recorded if the student earned above 60 but below 80 marks. The regular grading system (A+, A, B+, B …) will be applied for any course with the earned grade of 80 and above.
- After all grades for all students are entered, the above system will be automatically applied.
