In a progressive move aimed at supporting female faculty members, staff and students, Prince Sultan University implemented a set of initiatives on its campus to enhance childcare facilities. These measures reflect the institution's commitment to gender equality and providing comprehensive support to members of its community.
In this regard, the university has implemented some initiatives to support women on campus. One such initiative is the establishment of a dedicated breastfeeding area, which provides a comfortable and safe space for breastfeeding mothers to breastfeed their children, without disrupting their educational or work obligations.
In addition, the university provided a specialized refrigerator to store children's food and ensure its safety. By providing these services, PSU highlights the importance of maintaining a consistent and healthy feeding routine for infants, and supports the overall well-being of both mothers and children.
It is worth noting that PSU approves a one-hour workload release per day for all female staff who have infants under the age of two. These measures highlight the university's commitment to gender equality and its dedication to fostering an inclusive, caring environment for all community members. By supporting female faculty, staff and students in their roles as parents, PSU recognizes the value of their contributions and the need to address the unique challenges they face.
Dr. Heba Khoshaim, the university's vice president, expressed enthusiasm for such commitments from the university, stating, "We are proud to take these important steps in supporting the women in our community who are balancing their academic or professional pursuits with childcare. By providing a dedicated breastfeeding area and a refrigerator to store "Children's Foods, we aim to create an inclusive environment that empowers our female faculty, staff, and students to thrive in all aspects of their lives. By implementing these measures, PSU sets a commendable example for other institutions, emphasizing the importance of supporting female faculty, staff, and students".
