The "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency
Competition for Foreign College Students is a large-scale international Chinese
competition project organized by the Center for Language Education and
Cooperation of the Chinese Ministry of Education in China. Since 2002, it has
been held annually. The event has attracted a cumulative total of 850,000
college students from 160 countries, with more than 4,000 outstanding
participants invited to the global finals. It is hailed as the "Chinese
Olympics" worldwide.
The 23rd Chinese Bridge-Chinese Proficiency
Competition for Foreign College Students in Saudi Arabia is sponsored by the
Embassy of the People's Republic of China in KSA, organized by Confucius
Institute at Prince Sultan University, co-organized by the Community Service
and Continuing Education Center. It will be launched on March 20th, 2024.
I. Purpose
This event aims to provide a stage for KSA adults and
college students learning Chinese to demonstrate their Chinese ability, create
a platform for mutual learning and communication, stimulate their enthusiasm
and interest in learning Chinese, and enhance their understanding of Chinese
and Chinese culture. In addition, the competition aims at selecting the
qualified candidates for the upcoming 23rd “Chinese Bridge” —Chinese
Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students which will be held in
China.

III. Requirements for Application
Ø Current
enrollment as a regular student at a Saudi university.
Ø Within
the ages of 18-30.
Ø At
least three months’ Chinese learning experiences.
Ø Saudi
nationality (or with Saudi residence permit).
Ø Chinese
not being the applicants’ or their parents’ native language.
Ø Participants
from the previous global finals are not eligible to participate in consecutive
competitions.
VI. Competition Arrangement
The competition will
consist of three rounds spanning from March to May.
In the preliminary round,
participants will produce 2-3 minutes videos focusing on Chinese language and
culture. The videos meeting eligibility criteria will undergo evaluation by
judges at Shenzhen University to determine those advancing to the next stage.
Notification of advancement will be provided by April 20th.
The second round will be launched
on April 25th and it will be conducted online via Zoom, featuring
one-on-one interviews between participants and judges from Shenzhen University.
Content will encompass a brief self-introduction, Q&A session, and
demonstration of talent related to Chinese culture. Notification of advancement
will be provided within 5 working days after the closure of the second-round
competition.
The final round,
scheduled for May at Prince Sultan University in Riyadh, KSA, will involve speech
presentations and talent showcases.
V. Registration
1. Registration time: March 20th to April 15th.
2. Registration method: scan the QR code displayed on
the poster to access the competition conditions and details on the PSU website.
Complete the registration process by using the provided Google Docs link and
submit your video to the CI mailbox.

VI. Award
1. In the final round, there will be one Grand Prize,
two First Prizes, three Second Prizes, and five Third Prizes. The remaining
finalists will receive Honorable Mentions. The of the Grand Prize winner will
be awarded the Outstanding Mentor Award. All the recipients of the prizes and
mentors will be rewarded with certificates.
2. The champion (college students who is 18-30 years
old, born from 1994.01.01 to 2006.01.01) will be recommended to participate in
the global finals of the 23rd “Chinese Bridge”—Chinese Proficiency Competition
for Foreign College Students. Details will be provided separately.
