Operational measures

Prince Sultan University is involved in several industrial, academic, governmental, local, and international collaborations that are leading the way in the search for sustainable consumption and waste disposal. Policies are formulated and in place in the university that tackles different waste disposal, and ethical food sourcing and supplies. Various activities such as forums, workshops and outreach were done in this regard. Partnership with companies such as Jahez that values sustainability in their work processes provides big impact to the university and its community.

Prince Sultan University (PSU) is making a significant global impact through pioneering research, local and international partnerships, and market-driven curricula aimed at addressing pressing global challenges. As higher education institutions play a vital role in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and climate education, PSU has taken a bold step by becoming the first university in Saudi Arabia to pledge to achieve a net-zero campus by 2060. During the COP28 conference in Dubai, UNESCO emphasized the urgency of climate change education, echoing the need for collective action against emissions. By joining the UNFCCC Race to Zero campaign, PSU aligns itself with a coalition of cities, businesses, and educational institutions committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions, underscoring its leadership in sustainability efforts both locally and globally.

Energy, Water, and Environment Lab

The establishment of a new applied science and engineering research Lab (EWE) is of great importance to PSU from different aspects, including teaching, research, training, partnership with stakeholders,
national and international collaboration, exchange of students and staff, visibility and ranking, creation of startups and joint venture, as well as society engagement. The main research activities at EWE focus mainly on hot topics which are of great importance towards Sustainability and Circular Economy in the Kingdom.
- Circular and sustainable economy: recycling, waste management, and transformation.
- Green technologies: industrial decarburization, green molecules (like ammonia and hydrogen).
- Treatment of effluents (hospitals, pharmaceuticals, dairy products, steel and aluminum industries, pigments, and paints, etc.).
- Biomedical field like cancer imaging and therapy
- Agriculture like biopesticides and biofertilizers, insects sensing and remediation.
- Air pollution and remediation: such as gas sensing and airborne treatment.
- Anticorrosion.
Renewable Energy Lab

Research Labs such as Renewable Energy Lab, who are in cooperation with Power and Telecom Technologies Co., KFB Holding Group, Riyadh for a collaborative consultancy project on investigations on minimizing electricity cost and feasibility study of self-sustainable campus.
Research Projects such as the Sustainable Nano grid based Networked Electricity - A Paradigm shift for Electricity Infrastructure, was done to provide the community with an alternative to the grid and diesel-powered electricity. This is just one of the project of this Research Lab and more research and project are being done.
- Clear plan for executing energy saving measures by identifying the energy Intensive electrical utilities inside the campus
- Economic analysis for power quality improvement and energy savings
- Identifying the electrical inefficient processes in the campus
- Financial benefit (reduction in the billing cost), investment and payback period
Sustainable Architecture Lab

The SA Lab functions within the framework of the Architecture program at Prince Sultan University. Aligned with the Saudi Vision 2030, the SA Lab engages in diverse research areas crucial to the development and societal welfare of Saudi
Arabia. The interdisciplinary team focuses on topics that contribute to the university's strategic research goals, articularly within the context of environmental sustainability practices.
