PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)
The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) of Prince Sultan University’s Computer Science Program describe the broad professional and academic accomplishments that graduates are expected to achieve within a few years of graduation. These objectives are developed with input from key constituencies—students, alumni, employers, faculty, and the advisory board—and are aligned with ABET expectations and the Prince Sultan University mission.
CS Program PEOs
The offered program ensures that after a few years of completion:
- PEO1: Graduates serve as computing professionals, contributing to the planning, design, development, and production of computer science related projects.
- PEO2: Graduates demonstrate professionalism and ethical responsibilities in all their endeavors.
- PEO3: Graduates engage themselves in professional development, life-long learning, and advanced research through postgraduate studies, culminating a positive impact on organizations, community, and society at large.
- PEO4: Graduates demonstrate leadership skills, taking initiatives and facilitating individuals and teams toward the successful completion of professional duties.
Program Constituencies
The CS Program identifies and collaborates with its key constituencies to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with PSU’s mission and ABET accreditation standards.
- Faculty: Provide curricular and academic insights; feedback through Faculty PEOs Survey.
- Students: Provide input regarding learning experience and skill development; feedback through Student PEOs Survey.
- Alumni: Offer reflections on program relevance, industry readiness, and graduate success; feedback through Alumni Survey.
- Employers and Advisory Board: Share insights on workforce needs, technological trends, and expectations from CS graduates; feedback through Employer and Advisory Board Surveys and meetings.
PEOs Review Process
The Computer Science Program reviews its Program Educational Objectives every 3–5 years, or earlier if significant changes occur in the university mission, accreditation requirements, or industry trends. The review process is systematic, evidence-based, and ensures the continued relevance and effectiveness of the PEOs.
Steps in the Review Process:
- Input from Constituents: Feedback gathered from students, alumni, faculty, employers, and advisory board members.
- Results Revision (Faculty Members): Faculty analyze data and propose updates based on feedback and technological or academic developments.
- Recommended Program Educational Objectives: Proposed PEOs are developed and discussed by faculty.
- Review by Constituents: The proposed PEOs are shared with key stakeholders for further input.
- Approval and Publication: Finalized PEOs are approved and published through official PSU channels after advisory and administrative endorsement.
