The Solar and
Energy Storage KSA 2024, the Kingdom’s leading solar and energy storage event
from 15-16 Oct 2024, attracted many manufacturers, businesspersons, distributors,
entrepreneurs, practicing professionals, academicians, students, and startups
this year. On behalf of the Electrical Engineering Program at Prince Sultan
University Dr. Umashankar Subramaniam and Mr. Sivakumar Selvam visited the expo
on 16th Oct 2024 with undergraduate students to learn about the latest
technologies in energy storage, Solar panels, and innovative technology
systems. Many local and international companies providing solar solutions
participated in this expo, such as Solar Arabia, Solar Land Energy, Riyadh Cables
co, Zayel Solar, Bahr Cable, Alrabeh International, Co, Fluke Systems, Sun Grow
Systems, Wenzhou Kinee Electric Co., Jinko solar, Runergy, Powernsun, and more.
Building Integrated PV (BIPV) products and high-efficiency solar panels
attracted visitors as these products occupy less space than regular solar PV
panels. Students also had the opportunity to discuss potential research and
solar projects with startup companies.
Meanwhile, we
had an opportunity to meet the delegates from Solar Arabia and discuss cooperation
and supporting PSU. During the event, we discussed future research
collaboration and support for renewable energy projects supporting SDG 7 and
SDG 13 with Mr. Dilipraj from Solar Arabia. Moreover, we had a chance to visit
and meet the delegates from Fluke Systems. We shared our experience in the use of
fluke instruments in the current research work and also the zonal sales manager
assured us that provide academic discounts on any future purchases from Prince Sultan
University through their authorized partners. Also, we visited the Sgurr energy
booth and discussed with Er Abdulrahman Ghanem, an EE alumni and Employee of that
company, and expressed their requirement for one engineer trainee from
electrical engineering.
