Dr Shaimaa Ashour From Architecture Department Participates as keynote Speaker in Diriyah | TYN Festival (طين)

This presentation explores the enduring relevance of mudbrick architecture through a comparative lens, showcasing innovative projects from Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. By examining how contemporary architects in both regions are reimagining this ancient tradition, drawing inspiration from vernacular techniques while addressing modern challenges and aspirations, we will demonstrate the resilience and transformative potential of mudbrick. These stories highlight how sustainable, culturally resonant, and visually rich built environments can be achieved through the skillful use of mudbrick, showcasing how patterns, colors, and textures are employed to express cultural identity and respond to diverse climatic conditions.
