Senior Design Project
Project groups deliver their products that have progressed through the design, analysis, testing and evaluation stages. The project teams produce a polished professional report that describes the design process, implementation and testing, verification and validation, and a critical appraisal of the project. An oral presentation and graphic works are complementary project deliverables.

Multi-period trading via convex optimization on Tadawul: In multi-period portfolio selection, the portfolio selection problem is to choose a sequence of trades to carry out over a set of periods to maximize return while taking into account risk, transaction costs and holding costs. The project will predict stock prices for a certain selected time horizon using matrix completion optimization techniques followed by solving another optimization problem for finding the optimum portfolio that will maximize return while limiting the risk and accounting for transaction and holding costs. The project will be implemented on either Matlab or Python on data obtained from Tadawul stock market. (Code is already available, only customization to Tadawul). |

Localize Strategic Industries for Saudi Market: To respond to the Saudi Vision 2030 in terms of promoting the Saudi industries, students select a product/component with a certain strategic need, and they will go deeply with the development process of this product starting from planning up to having the final physical prototype. The process contains conceptual and detailed design in addition to the customer satisfaction at every stage. |

Enhancing HVAC Maintenance Safety through the Implementation of Prevention through Design (PtD): This project aims to improve safety in HVAC systems by integrating Prevention through Design (PtD) principles. It will focus on identifying safety hazards in HVAC design, installation, and maintenance processes and propose practical design solutions to mitigate risks such as fall hazards, electrical dangers, and ergonomic challenges. The study will involve interviews with industry professionals, case studies of real-world scenarios, and surveys to evaluate and validate the effectiveness of PtD attributes. |

Automating timetabling of final exams using integer linear programming: The project will develop a spread sheet that can automate final exam timetabling for engineering college students using integer linear programming. The resulting final exam timetable will develop a timetable so that no student will have two exams in the same day, or two exams in two consecutive days while meeting the classroom size and time slot constraints of the university. This will ultimately enhance the academic experience of engineering college students. |
