CME Student Activity Committee Hosts a Successful Open Day at PSU

The Communications and Networks Engineering (CME) Department at Prince Sultan University successfully hosted its Open Day on February 2-3, 2025, welcoming students to explore academic programs, cutting-edge research, student activities, and upcoming competitions. The event, organized by the Student Activity Committee (SAC), provided a comprehensive insight into the department’s vision, mission, and hands-on learning opportunities.

Day 1: Academic Insights, Research Presentations, and IEEE for Students

The event commenced with an opening speech by Dr. Mourad Rizk, Chair of the Student Activity Committee (SAC), highlighting the department’s commitment to innovation, academic excellence, and student empowerment.

Following this, Dr. Moustafa Nasralla, Chairman of the CME Department, led a detailed presentation covering the Electrical Engineering (EE) curriculum, vision, mission, study plan, and faculty expertise. Attendees were also introduced to the department’s state-of-the-art laboratories, including:

§  Digital Systems & Electronics Laboratory

§  Communication & Networks Laboratory (PLC Automation – Sponsored by Schneider)

§  Power Electronics & Machines Laboratory

§  Renewable Energy Laboratory (REL) – Presented by Dr. Mahmoud Elmorshedy

§  Smart Systems Engineering Laboratory (SSEL) – Presented by Dr. Haleem Farman

§  Electromagnetics Research Group (EMG) – Presented by Dr. Walid Dyab

Students also had the opportunity to learn about professional organizations. Dr. Mahajan Sagar Bhaskar delivered an informative session on IEEE for Students, explaining the benefits of IEEE membership, networking opportunities, and technical resources.

Additionally, Kareem Shahadah, President of the EETech Club, provided a brief introduction about the club’s mission and role in promoting student engagement and technical development.
