The English Department’s main task is to prepare students for their undergraduate work, which they will study through the medium of English. Registration on all courses is either through a placement test or by reference to recognized tests such as IELTS.

According to their score on the test, students may be placed at one of three levels:

• iEP which is the Intensive English Program which offers courses at CEFR A1
• The Preparatory Year Program or PYP 1 is a higher level and offers courses at CEFR A2+
• The Preparatory Year Program PYP 2 is the final level and offers courses at CEFR B1+

All courses are of 15 weeks duration.

After completing the Preparatory Year Program, students continue at undergraduate level. Here, there are some compulsory subjects such as composition, technical writing and research writing techniques.
