The CCIS holds a panel discussion on the World Summit on Artificial Intelligence

The College of Computer and Information Sciences at PSU, on the 3rd edition of the Global AI Summit, held under the patronage of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) organized a panel discussion titled “AI Augmentation: Empowering or Subjugation Humanity?” in collaboration with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), with the attendance of specialists and those interested in the field of artificial intelligence.

Dr. Abdulaziz Alhelali (Assistant Professor at Software Engineering Department) led the session with the AI Expert Speakers, including:

·        Dr. Jonathan Gratch, Faculty member at the University of Southern California, specializing in virtual humans, AI, and the role of emotion in human-computer interaction.

·        Dr. Daniel Gatica-Perez, Professor at EPFL, Switzerland, focusing on social computing, multimedia, machine learning, and ubiquitous computing.

·        Dr. Simon See, Senior Director at Nvidia AI Technology.

·        Dr. Priya Nagpurka, Vice President of Hybrid Cloud & AI Platform Research at IBM. 

The session covered several key topics, including:

·        AI empowerment and its tools.

·        Ethical and legislative challenges.

·        The balance between empowerment and control in AI technologies.
