PSU is AACSB accredited

Prince Sultan University (the First Private Non-Profit University in Saudi Arabia) earns well-renowned AACSB accreditation for all Business degree Programs

Prince Sultan University – Riyadh, KSA - business accreditation by AACSB International is a great achievement representing excellence in business education.

AACSB International (AACSB) has officially announced that Prince Sultan University (PSU), Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has earned business accreditation from AACSB—a sign of excellence in business education. Achieving this accreditation involves a rigorous review process and evaluation conducted by peers in the global business education community.

“AACSB Accreditation recognizes institutions that have demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curriculum development, and student learning,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB. “We congratulate Prince Sultan University, Riyadh, KSA, and Dean Saad A. Almosa on earning accreditation and applaud the entire team—including the administration, faculty, staff, and students—for their roles in earning this respected honor.”

"Prince Sultan University’s commitment to earning accreditation is a true reflection of their dedication—not only to their students, alumni network, and greater business community but to the higher education industry as a whole,” said Bryant. “Today’s students are tomorrow’s business leaders, and the addition of PSU’s College of Business Administration to the network of AACSB-accredited business schools will have a lasting positive impact for their institution, both locally and globally.”

Less than 6 percent of the world's schools offering business degree programs hold the prestigious AACSB business accreditation. Currently, a total of 890 institutions across 58 countries and territories have earned AACSB accreditation in business, and only five universities and business schools, so far, in Saudi Arabia have achieved this distinction. Furthermore, 189 institutions maintain supplemental AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs.

PSU University President Dr. Ahmed S. Yamani, the driving force behind this great achievement and several others, said that the university warmly welcomes the AACSB’s accreditation decision. He further stated: “PSU at a very early stage of its establishment made it clear and formulated a strategic goal for its long-term planning to seek international accreditation and recognition from renowned accrediting agencies in every discipline. Hence it became an educational member of AACSB within a very short period of its establishment as a non-profit private higher education institution. In the following years, the university continued providing ample support and guidance for CBA to enhance the faculty and professional staff resources, improve learner success and boost engagement and societal impact. To receive this accreditation is a great honor and reflects the very high standards of PSU’s business programs in teaching, student learning, research, and curriculum development. I congratulate PSU for achieving this honor and warmly thank the AACSB for allowing us to be part of this unique forum of excellence. We will continue to add value and empower humans to foster engagement, accelerate innovation and amplify impact in business education for positive global societal impact.”

Prince Sultan University is committed to delivering impactful, high-quality education to students that make them well-prepared for their future careers. For example, in reviewing the Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree program (BS of ACC), CBA refreshed the program in 2019 to integrate specialized, focused elements of knowledge and skills that better prepare students for a diverse business landscape.

In light of the great achievements and progress of the Prince Sultan University’s Accounting Department including several international professional organizations’ recognition and accreditation, SOCPA initiated a project of cooperation to develop an ideal model of an accounting degree program compatible with the needs of the accounting profession in the KSA. This can be used as a guide by all local universities to develop their own similar programs. This aligns with the goals of the KSA 2030 vision especially with respect to the development of human capital capabilities. Our real wealth lies in the ambition of our people and the potential of our younger generations.

Empowered by the accreditation, Prince Sultan University will further innovate and improve upon its business offerings. At the same time, students at PSU can feel confident that they are receiving business education held to the highest level of global business education standards, taught by highly qualified academics. What’s more, students who graduate from AACSB-accredited schools have a better opportunity to connect with sought-after employers, as well as some of the best minds in business, to solve the most pressing challenges facing businesses and society.
