TAC Training

TAC offers a number of training workshops in order to provide the participants with the needed expertise and skills that help them to improve the quality of translation. These training workshops targeted two different groups. These are:

  1. Students Training
    1. COOP Training
    2. PSU Students Training - Specialized Training Sessions
  2. Professional Development Opportunities

1. Students Training

A. COOP Training

Based on the cooperation principle between the universities in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Translation and Authoring Center (TAC) at Prince Sultan University welcomes on board translation students who seek for cooperative training. The training takes place in the TAC office in PSU, where the student is provided with all the needed equipment to have a real job market experience. The task undertook by the trainee was, including but not limited to, the following:

  • Translation and proofreading
  • Administrative tasks
  • Digital designing
  • Social media management

The center has provided COOP training for two students:

  1. Princess Nora University
    • Translation and proofreading
    • Administrative tasks
    • Digital designing
    • Social media management
  2. Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic

B. PSU Students Training - Specialized Training Sessions

One of the main services that TAC provides is offering specialized training for students who are interested in translation and editing. A minimum of 20 hours is required to obtain the accomplishment certificate. The training program is offered every semester to give participants real- life experience in the field. Training sessions are offered by specialized TAC members on various job-related matters, feedback is given to participants across the program to ensure their progress.

TAC Specialized Training Sessions for the academic year 2022--2023

  • 5 students completed the training program for the academic year 2022-2023
  • Each trainee attended 2-3 days/2-3 hours per week
  • Translation fields covered during the training: Political, Tourism, Legal, and Economic.
  • A total of 20 hours per student, and over 25 texts and translations were reviewed and corrected.

2. Professional Development Opportunities

The Translation and Authoring Center (TAC) offers specialized training workshops for its staff and PSU members in general. By providing a variety of professional development training workshops, TAC contributes to the achievement of PSU’s Strategic Plan “EMPOWER”.
