Building a Sustainable Future: PSU’s Inspiring Presence at the Sustainable Building Show 2024

In early June, the Riyadh Front Exhibition Center transformed into a hub of innovation, hosting the 2024 Sustainable Building Show (SBS). Prince Sultan University (PSU) took a bold step forward by joining industry giants to share its unique perspective on sustainability. As the only academic institution at SBS, PSU’s presence highlighted the role of education in building a sustainable future through thoughtful design and practical solutions. Here’s a look at PSU’s meaningful contributions that inspired attendees and underscored the potential of sustainable development in Saudi Arabia.

Student Innovation in Sustainability

PSU’s vibrant booth featured interior design students tackling real-world sustainability challenges. Projects using eco-friendly materials and innovative designs underscored PSU’s mission to equip the next generation with the skills and purpose to support Saudi Vision 2030. As the only academic institution at the event, PSU left attendees inspired by the students’ pioneering ideas.

Driving Net-Zero Collaboration
In the panel "Building With Net Zero in Mind," PSU explored sustainable materials, passive solar design, and high-performance insulation for residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. The discussion emphasized the need for shared knowledge and cross-sector collaboration to make net-zero goals achievable.

Advancing Energy-Efficient Design
PSU’s presentation on "Energy Simulation for Sustainable Building" used Olaya Tower A as a case study to demonstrate data-driven design. By evaluating energy-efficient building envelopes, PSU showcased how simulation tools can guide sustainable architecture decisions and reduce environmental footprints.

Leading by Example
PSU’s involvement in SBS highlighted its dedication to sustainable practices aligned with Saudi Vision 2030. Through student innovation, academic research, and real-world applications, PSU inspired attendees and reaffirmed its role as a leader in building a more sustainable future.
