Governance, National Data Management and Personal Data Protection Forum

The National Data Management Office (NDMO) and the Compliance & Legal Office organized a forum on the 18th of January 2023 to give an idea about the office and to raise awareness on the main tasks of the NDMO as per its responsibility to establish policies and standards in developing data governance mechanisms. Data management refers to the process of developing, implementing, and supervising plans, policies, programs, and practices to enable entities to govern data and enhance its value as a unique asset. The forum was introduced by the Senior Manager of Compliance and Legal Office Dr. Emna Chikhaoui. The Vice President for Financial and Administrative Affairs Prof. Dr. Saad AlRwaitaa welcomed the audience and the President of the NDMO gave his introductory note about the Office. The forum presenters focused on data management and data governance and data protection. During the discussion, the attendees raised the challenges of compliance with the new Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). The NDMO representatives discussed the methods used to enhance the Kingdom’s development vision. This comes with the objective of enabling national data and enhancing the Kingdom's capabilities through developing policies and controls and proposing data regulations while ensuring excellence in the management of data. The NDMO gave an idea about the professional certificates in the domain of data management and data governance and invited the students of law and computer sciences to register for these certificate trainings.
