Diriyah Architecture Design Studio exhibition

On Thursday, 21 May, the Department of Architecture at Prince Sultan University organized a final exhibition showcasing the outcomes of the students’ work developed within the Diriyah Design Studio and the Vernacular Najd Studio, carried out in collaboration with Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA). The exhibition highlighted a wide range of research and design projects exploring the cultural, environmental, and architectural values of Najdi heritage and their reinterpretation in contemporary design. The Diriyah Design Studio, coordinated by Dr. Erna Husukic, Dr. Monica Moscatelli, and Ms. Farah Al Attrache, focused on cultural and community-oriented proposals within Diriyah and Wadi Hanifah, encouraging students to develop context-sensitive design solutions inspired by traditional Najdi principles. The Vernacular Najd Studio, led by Dr. Monica Moscatelli, Dr. Salma Dwidar, and Ms. Wafa Alghamdi, engaged students in the documentation and analysis of vernacular settlements and buildings through fieldwork, drawings, measurements, models, and material studies. The exhibition presented panels, models, maps, drawings, and multimedia materials, celebrating the students’ work and emphasizing the importance of preserving and reinterpreting Najdi architectural heritage for future generations.
