"The Future of Design" Lecture Illuminates the Path Forward for Interior Design

On October 1, 2024, the Design and Architecture Department hosted an engaging lecture titled "The Future of Design," presented by Noor Charchafchi, CEO of Celine Interior Design. Held at Building 105 Auditorium from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Charchafchi, who ranks among the top 50 interior designers in the UK, shared her visionary approach to interior design, highlighting how true design transcends style and personality. Instead, she emphasized, it should embody the essence of the inhabitants, transforming spaces into something extraordinary and deeply personal. Noor stressed the importance of genuine expression in design, free from personal ego, to create profound connections with the people who use the spaces.

Drawing on her diverse background, including her Iraqi-British heritage and experience working with aristocracy, royalty, and diplomats, Charchafchi has positioned Celine Interior Design as a symbol of sophistication and refinement. During her lecture, she also discussed the significance of preserving Saudi identity in modern designs, aligning with the country's Vision 2030, and the role of heritage in shaping future luxury.

This lecture resonated deeply with the audience, offering insights into how interior design can adapt to evolving cultural and aesthetic landscapes while maintaining authenticity and connection to the past.
