Mr. Sean MacHale, Partner and the Financial Services CCaSS Leader (Climate Change & Sustainability Services), EY, Ireland

Mr. Sean MacHale is a Partner and the Financial Services CCaSS Leader for Ireland (Climate Change & Sustainability Services). He is responsible for many elements of end-to-end ESG strategy, from assisting financial institutions in building transition to Net-Zero plans, to driving strategies on reporting.

Sean’s professional background is in investment banking, and in his last role he was the Head of Sustainability strategy and Group Climate lead for a leading Irish financial instruction. In that role he worked closely with risk, reporting and the business units to deliver strategy, product development and channel delivery to facilitate the flow of sustainable capital enabling clients transition to the low carbon economy and capitalise on the opportunities it brings.

Sean has extensive experience in capital markets, risk evaluation and delivering transformational business change programmes for clients within financial services. Sean is passionate about assisting financial institutions in identifying their strategies for adopting a successful ESG framework from product to reporting, as those that do so are likely to have ultimately better corporate performance. Most importantly, this drives a significantly positive impact on the economy, environment and surrounding society. Sean has been a guest lecturer to master's classes in Sustainability and Investment & Treasury Risk.
