Ms. Shahnaz Sultana, Chief Consultant & CEO of FINSalliance: Financial and Social Alliance, Founder of WE: Financial Alliance for Women in Banking and Finance (Voluntary)

Ms. Shahnaz Sultana is the Chief Consultant & CEO of FINSalliance: Financial and Social Alliance and also the Founder of WE: Financial Alliance for Women in Banking and Finance (Voluntary).

Ms. Shahnaz Sultana is dedicated and results oriented professional with 28 years of banking experience through working in Global Banks i.e., Wells Fargo Bank N.A and American Express Bank. With particular focus on Leadership and Risk management (Relationship Development, Credit - Country and Counterparty, AML/BSA, Compliance & Governance, Operation, Vendor Management, Strategic/business and market) experienced in leading others through changes and implementing innovative solutions with logical approach to challenges.

At Wells, Ms. Shahnaz Sultana developed broader relationships with Financial Institutions and regulators in the country through years of engagement in different areas which includes business, credit/compliance/operation risk among other areas. Shared best practices and lead the market in risk management and governance through sharing knowledge, experience and also connecting with overseas partners experienced in different fields. Successfully undertook stretch roles at region level as the senior regional risk officer covering 14 countries in APAC during 2015 and again in 2018 reviewing and approving risk proposals, manage a regional team and participate in global risk committee.

Ms. Shahnaz Sultana achieved the highest award in Wells Fargo i.e., the Golden Spoke Award" in 2016 among several other awards such as "Global Citizen Award" in 2015 for volunteering maximum number of hours for community support and "Office of the Year" award in 2013 for upholding the company’s vision.

She participated in Global and Regional Committees including Global Leadership Forum and APAC Senior Management Committee in 2013. Worked as a Global Mentor under Wells Fargo mentor connect program. Partnered with Wells Fargo global Talent Strategy team for presenting Leadership Branding for team members across the globe and also worked as one of the members of the Diversity and Inclusion Council in APAC.

Some of the Voluntary activities included, supporting causes such as education for underprivileged children, health awareness, art and culture, diversity and inclusion, giving lectures in Dhaka University – Finance Department, worked with JAAGO (online schools for underprivileged children), LCDB (Leonard Cheshire Disability Bangladesh), Friendship Bangladesh, EMK Center among many others. Participated as member of the Jury for the final round of Hult Prize 2015-2016 held at BRAC university Dhaka an official partner of the Hult Prize Foundation.
