Dr. Ahmed S. Yamani
President, Prince Sultan University, Saudi Arabia
Dr. Ahmed S. Yamani is the President of Prince Sultan University, the first private non-profit University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He took up his post as ‘Rector/President’ since June 2005. He has held a series of leadership roles (including Chairman, Vice Dean, Vice-Rector, and Rector) over a 25 year.
Dr. Yamani has a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan, USA. He obtained his MSc and a BSc in Architectural Engineering with summa cum laude (highest honor) from the University of North Carolina, USA.
Prior to Prince Sultan University, Dr. Yamani started his academic career in Civil Engineering Department, College of Planning, University of Michigan, USA. He also held academic positions in King Saud University, Saudi Arabia; the first Vice Dean to the newly founded Prince Sultan Private College, which evolved into the successful Prince Sultan University, Saudi Arabia; and the Vice Rector of Prince Sultan University, Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Yamani has been playing a major role in the development and implementation of academic strategy at Prince Sultan University, in both research and education. Under his leadership the University has consistently been rated the best private university in Saudi Arabia. He has an ongoing interest in Sustainable Higher Education more widely.
Dr. Yamani has led the development of the University’s internationalization, with the goal of leading University locally and the Middle East through stakeholder engagement, community service and highly research impact in line with ‘Saudi Vision 2030’.
Dr. Yamani is the founding editor of ‘PSU Research Review: An International Interdisciplinary Journal’ (Emerald Group Publishing Limited, UK). Dr. Yamani has chaired or has been a member of numerous academic, administrative and professional committees. He is the board member of National Commission for Assessment and Academic Accreditation (NCAAA), Ministry of Education, Saudi Arabia. He was also awarded various prestigious awards.
